| 摘要： | Various aspects/ findings mentioned in this review study on traffic calming measures would enable traffic engineers to appreciate the concept of traffic calming better along with the planning and design consideration. Besides these, the following observations need to be considered before the selection, implementation and maintenance of traffic calming schemes: 1. Design vehicles should be considered when determining the type of traffic-calming treatment is to be implemented. For example, farming vehicles and heavy truck traffic are common in many rural communities to be accommodated while deciding traffic calming measures in rural areas. 2.Maintenance can be an issue with many traffic-calming treatments. For example, the tubular channelizing markers used in the various studies to create a central island are effective in reducing speeds, but the tubular markers are generally frequently struck by vehicles and require frequent maintenance. |
