The US National ITS Architecture dealing with TMDD standard is increasingly becoming important world-wide. The IBM Intelligent Transportation Management implements the TMDD standard[2] which also introduced a valuable new asset, the Traffic Management Owner Center Simulator, to help cities and IBM business partners implement TMDD.US National ITS Architecture Version 6.1 addresses a host of new features that enhance the architecture definition and make it easier to access the information. TMDD Standards also addresses the support centre-to-centre communications as part of the regional deployment of ITS in order for centers to cooperate in the management of a corridor, arterial, incident mitigation, event management, and so on. NTCIP standards specifies communications interfaces (message form, message use, and transport) encoded in the Extensible Markup Language (XML) between a center and an external centre. "Integrate traffic data with IBM Intelligent Transportation using a traffic data gateway" (developer Works, Jul 2011) explores how to convert non-TMDD traffic data into a format the Traffic Management Owner Center Simulator can understand and read in order to get the data into IBM Intelligent Transportation[4]. There are a number of methods of communications demonstrated here as a part of advance traveller information system[7] Finally, an attempt which is being made by the ISO committee on improving the draft on ISO14823:2019 has also been mentioned as a part on going document. In context of ITS's standardization and development, The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) is increasingly being involved in development and standardization of the various documents with Advance Travel Information and related areas of ITS as presented[14] below: While discussing the efforts made by The IBM Intelligent Transportation Management to facilitate Advance Traveller Information System, the implementation of CTU's Bus Modernization Plan using ITS technology cited as a part of great initiative in India is a noteworthy effort recently completed to a great extent. |
