摘要: Ladakh Union Territory is locked and situated over 11,000 feet (3353 m) above MSL. The area experiences extreme cold climatic conditions coupled with rugged terrain. The region is situated amongst a series of mountain ranges. Chisumle and Demchok are two strategic locations in Eastern region of Union Territory of Leh-Ladakh. Road Sector Chisumle-Demchok takes off from km 27.000 (Chisumle) on Koyul-Photile-Chisumle-Zursar road and terminates off at km 52.000 (Demchok). The road traverses through Umling-La Pass at an altitude of 19,024 feet (5799 m) above Mean Sea Level. The temperature in this region dips down to (-) 25℃ and experiences heavy snow fall during December-January & April-May month every year. The road on an average remains open for working from April to October i.e. for a period of five- six months only in a year. The road alignment passes through mountainous terrain with altitude ranging 4200 m to 5700 m above MSL.
