摘要: Indian Roads Congress Special Publication (IRC:SP:102-2014) is presently used for Reinforced Earth (R E)Wall design and this guideline is silent about the protection of median, earthen and hard shoulders although the protection of part height RE Wall mentioned is in IRC:SP:42. Bulk density of retained fill material and reinforced materials are assumed constant during the design period of 100 years. RE Wall protection is required to avoid ingress of water to maintain bulk density and shear parameters constant during design period. Hence, a case study has been carried out to verify necessity of surface protection to escape entry of water in reinforced zone and retained zone of RE Wall. Degree of saturation in fill material will be varied due to entrance of rain water. Seepage analysis has also been carried to determine pore pressure and total pressure head due to seepage. A complete case study is undertaken and presented in this present research work. Based on this present research work, it is found that RE Wall needs proper surface protection to avoid failure of Reinforced Earth Wall in future during design life.
