| 摘要： | Adoption of the Federal Clean Air Act, as well as numerous state clean air initiatives, has precipitated interest in alternative, 'clean,' fuels. Implementation of alternative fuels has important implications for state highway programs which draw resources from motor fuel taxes. Conversion of gasoline and diesel engines to natural gas could potentially draw financial resources away from dedicated highway trust funds without decreasing utilization of the highway system. The principal objective of this research was to evaluate the impact of alternative fuels legislation on highway financing in the southwest region of the United States through the use of conversion scenarios based on new state laws. |
