The reconnaissance level survey of Carswell Air Force Base
was conducted In order to assess areas with a high potential for
Intact sites. Approximately 320 acres were surveyed along the
West Fork floodplain and adjacent first terraces above the
floodplain on the east boundary of the base, the north boundary
of the base along Lake Worth, and the terraces that flank Farmers
Branch. Apparently, previous construction has heavily altered
many areas within the present project area. Two historic trash
dumps/scatters, one historic building foundation footing, one
historic bridge, and one prehistoric Isolated lithic find were
identified. Due to the lack of integrity, lack of uniqueness,
and relative recent date, the properties are considered not
eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic
Places.
