摘要: | Advances in X-ray imagery give clearer details into the mechanisms involved in the formation of indentation during experiments of armor packets with clay backing material. The clay backing material has traditionally been a rectangular block. Limits on the power of X-ray flashers used, however, do not allow for imagery through the clay. Therefore, targets are modified to a cylindrical shape with maximum diameter of 6 inches. This paper is a numerical investigation into the effects of target geometry on the formation of the indentation crater in the backing material for both drop testing and impact testing. |
