| 摘要： | The report presents a directory of effective practices used to prevent bus accidents at small, medium, and large transit systems. Most of the information was obtained from 182 transit systems in the United States and in Canada and from statewide transit insurance pools in six states. The directory is designed to be used by transit management, operations, and safety personnel. Accident prevention is a top priority of every bus operation. Generally, practices used to prevent accidents and promote safe driving fall into three categories: human resources, management, and operations. Specific practices used to prevent accidents and promote safe driving vary widely among transit systems. There is no comprehensive inventory of such practices for operators to readily reference, nor have best practices been evaluated in a systematic manner. |
