摘要: The recent advances in information and communication technology with the rapid global diffusion of Internet have changed the basis of industrial competitiveness. Many of the fundamental assumptions that guided business management in the past century need to be re-examined critically. A firm's competitive position linked to its asset base is no longer valid. Many of the geographical factors that were considered to be the keystones of comparative advantage of a firm or a nation are no longer valid. We at the Helsinki University of Technology (HUT) considered this changing global condition of management to be the central theme in an academic discussion. In this context we gathered a few researchers who are currently working on the various topics related to ICT and its impact on industrial competitiveness. Experience of different industries was topic of presentations in this symposium.
