Field Monitoring of Scour Critical Bridges: A Pilot Study of Time Domain Reflectometry For Real-Time Automatic Scour Monitoring Systems
摘要:
Scour prediction equations from laboratory model studies might not result in safe and economical designs of scour countermeasures. Collecting scour data directly from the field is necessary to improve the current specifications. The development of an innovative bridge real time scour monitoring system would bring important societal and economic benefits for the transportation community. The objective of "Field Monitoring of Scour Critical Bridges: A Pilot Study of Time Domain Reflectometry for Real-Time Automatic Scour Monitoring Systems" is to develop and deploy a rugged and inexpensive TDR real-time monitoring system. The research tasks for this project are (1) Design a system suitable for field deployment. (2) Develop user-friendly computer software for the system. - Conduct simulated experiments to validate the system performance. (3) Evaluate the prototype at selected scour critical bridges.
