| 摘要： | Current transportation methods ofer fxed options for rail,metro, road, sea, and air routes. In particular, the surfacetransportation options at the local and regional levels arecritical so that people can reach their work destinations.Tere are many examples where businesses are located near major roadexits or metro stops. In addition, people make housing choices so theyhave access to transportation based on their needs.However, the current regional transportation system is largelylimited by surface access. It is often said that “one mile of surfacetransportation only takes you one mile.” Given the continued prog-ress on electric propulsion, drones, and vertical take-of and landing(VTOL) vehicles, it is possible that in the future there will be asignifcant change in the reach of aviation at every possible locationin the US. While it is expected that long-range airport-to-airporttravel will continue, quieter and smaller aircraft could allow morewidespread aviation transportation. Tis article provides a visionfor optimizing future air transportation for better living and busi-ness needs. |
