In this report, the US Army Engineer Research and Development Center,Coastal and Hydraulics Laboratory, presents a numerical modeling studyusing FUNWAVE-TVD to investigate ship-induced waves of largecontainer-type vessels with related erosion and scour effects. The newvessel wake generating models implemented in the FUNWAVE-TVDVessel Module are presented and validated against field data in theSabine-Neches Waterway, Texas. Utilizing the Sediment Transport andMorphology Change Modules, ship wake-induced erosion is analyzed toassess potential impacts to Sabine-to-Galveston Hurricane FloodProtection Systems. |
