The main goal of this work was to develop physically-based models, which can be usedto predict the propagation conditions for Earth-space communication systems operating at W band, for which no experimental data are currently available. To this aim,the first part of this work was devoted to a brief overview on the main impairments induced by tropospheric constituents on EM waves in the 10-100 GHz range, amongwhich the signal attenuation is the prevalent one. The second part of the work on the experimental activities was devoted to evaluating theeffectiveness of two Fade Mitigation Techniques. |
