This technical report describes a comprehensive evaluation of the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test (AFOQT) Form T. Thepurpose was to evaluate the psychometric and validity characteristics of the AFOQT Form T and to evaluate the value ofpotential changes and revisions to the scoring of the test. This report is divided into the following sections: evaluation of (1)the AFOQT operational composites, (2) the linkages between critical officer competencies and attributes with AFOQTsubtests, (3) the validity, and subgroup differences, and potential for adverse impact for the current operational composites,and (4) alternative composites designed to maintain or increase validity while reducing levels of subgroup differences. Eachsection provides detailed results and descriptions of processes used to evaluate the AFOQT. Across the objectives, the resultsindicate the potential for AFOQT composites to result in similar levels of historical validity, measure a broader range ofattributes and competencies for officer jobs, and reduce the potential for adverse impact through the inclusion of previouslyunscored, non-cognitive assessments. |
