Submarine escape system is connected with the submariners' lives when accident, so the importance of the system should be considered throughly at the beginning of the submarine design.But developing a submarine escape system is a risky and uncertain process.In order to reduce the risks and uncertainties, the paper proposed a risk-based design method, which consisted of four distinct steps: alternatives development, risk identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation and decision making.Then the most reasonable design scenario is derived at the end of the method.Subsequently, it was investigated that the main risky factors of submarine escape system design were general performance parameters, operation, safety of the product in hazardous conditions, the product's influence on submarine and investment cost.While the main factors and their attributes were researched carefully, a risk analysis model for submarine escape system design was introduced.Then a case was studied to demonstrate the application of the model, and the results showed that it was an effective way to reduce the risks and uncertainties of system design. |
