This second part study is a continuous one following Part I.In addition to ACI establishments and statistical model estimates in the first part, this further study analyzed several typical asset improvement methods, which set priority on safety. This paper used the identical data used in the previous study, the one-mile-segment dataset for all state primary roads from 2004 to 2009 integrated by GIS tools. With the estimated Asset Condition Index (ACI) and the separate models, this study focused on developing a methodology to prioritize safety improvements on the basis of asset conditions. Results indicated that minor rehabilitation and durable material marking have the highest B/C ratio when a one-year analysis period is considered. To expand the analysis for five years, a decision-making matrix of ACI ranges versus treatment alternatives was developed. |
