Suspenders and main cables are always considered as critical and vulnerable structural members in a long-span suspension bridge.Examining suspender and cable forces is an essential task to help people assess the structural state of a bridge.Compared with some costly measurement methods,the frequency-based measurement is a very simple,economic and commonly used method.This paper describes the process of suspender and main cable force measurements for the Nanpanjiang Bridge.Although the frequency-based method also inevitably induces errors to some extent,it is still proved to be an effective way and the obtained experimental results can provide useful information for bridge maintenance and strengthening. |
