This paper presents the results of both dynamic monitoring and humidity monitoring of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge.It is important for large scale structures such as the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge to ensure the structural integrity by combining the evaluation of damage and deficiency through bridge inspection and the dynamic monitoring results.Based on the dynamic monitoring results of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge,it can be confirmed that the original design of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge for the seismic and wind resistant design is conservative.The dry-air injection system was developed and installed on the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge for the first time in the world.Based on the continuous monitoring,the inside of the main cables is in a dry condition and the rust on the cable strands is prevented.According to this result,more economic operation of the dry-air injection system and further improvements are investigated. |
