摘要：	This project analyzes three aspects of physical layer performance of dedicated short range communications (DSRC). One is a 5MHz band-plan, which aims to provide more service channels, better frequency reuse and minimize interference. Additional service channels require more sophisticated network layers and control channel architectures for channel assignments. The second task considers that in a typical DSRC highway scenario, it is natural to group vehicles by clusters, requiring information about vehicles' locations through algorithms for lane differentiation. The third topic looks at emergency evacuations that are not being considered by any standardization body but need to be addressed to support intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and Public safety co-existence. Emergency communications are challenging because we cannot assume reliable network infrastructure. We investigated the use of cognitive radio spectrum sensing and cooperative communication to solve this.
