The construction of ship structures requires many pipes and ducts in order to accommodate essential services such as the free flow of air and liquid, the connect with cable and aggregate.Web openings in steel beams enable the installation of thes e services.A number of studies have been conducted with regards to steel beams which contain web openings.The present paper aims to analyse stress distribution of steel beams with transverse web openings The effect of vertical locations, the distance of opening at bottom of beam to support changes influence to the overall strength of the reinforced beams, and the varying rule of the location of maximum stress are analysed by using finite element method and experiment for the stress concentration problem raised by the special openings in the webs of reinforced beams in ship structures, and some recommendations are proposed for practical structure design |
