The UNECE World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulation confirmed the external noise limit values of UN Reg- ulation No. 51-03 for noise emitted by accelerating motor vehicles in 2015, and put it into implement from July 1st2016. But research shows that the UN Regulation No. 51-03 limit values and related sub-categories of M3 buses and coaches are set based on rated engine power of European diesel engines. Thus this limit value and sub-category system cannot cover buses and coaches with Chinese diesel en- gines, gasoline engine, hybrid engine and electric power because the rated power are quite different between different engine energy cat- egories and different countries. And further research points out that a new sub-category method should be applied to cover all M3 buses and coaches with different engine technologies and energy categories. |
