January 2022 - UK Government has introduced a Bill into Parliament to seek authorisation to build and operate phase IIB of the project between Crewe and Manchester; October 2021 - HS2 has unveiled a three-strong shortlist of bidders for the Phase IIA Design and Delivery Partner (DDP); September 2021 - HS2 has shortlisted BAM Nuttall, Galliford Try, GRAHAM Group, Kier Group, Laing O'Rourke and Skanska to tender for the enabling works contract for the 2a project; July 2021 - HS2 has awarded Kier Construction a contact to deliver highways and utility work on Phase 2a; May 2021 - Balfour Beatty and NG Bailey has withdrawn its participation from a GBP498mn (USD706.6mn) package comprising tunnel and lineside mechanical and electrical systems works for the project and Costain and Alstom remain in the running for the contract, which is scheduled to be awarded in 2022; Consultation response report published for Phase IIA; February 2021 - UK parliament has approved plans for the construction of phase 2a; December 2020 - HS2 has shortlisted bidders to submit bids for the tunnel and lineside mechanical and electrical systems and track systems on the HS2 railway line; November 2020 - HS2 has launched the tender for early civil works contracts for the Phase 2A; Balfour Beatty won contract for ground investigation work along the 2a route; May 2020 - HS2 has started the tender process worth GBP431mn (USD538mn) for track system work, including supply, design, installation and testing work for phase 2a which will run from Birmingham Curzon Street to Crewe; February 2020 - Project has been approved; August 2019 - Transport Secretary of UK has published the terms of reference (TOR) and timetable for an independent review of the project; Project has 2 sub phases, one will connect Crewe to Manchester and Midlands to Leeds; Project is part of GBP106bn (USD137.8bn) High Speed Rail 2 (HS2) Project |
