January 2022 - Construction underway and project is expected to be operational in 2025; January 2021 - Austrian Federal Railways (OBB) has announced plans to invest EUR2.13bn (USD2.6bn) in 2021 across its rail network; September 2020 - OBB has commenced construction of the Feldkirchen - Weitendorf section of the Koralm railway, linking Graz with Klagenfurt via the Koralm tunnel; July 2020 - Austrian Federal Railways has awarded a EUR160mn (USD187.7mn) contract to FF Koralm; June 2020 - Koralm railway between Graz and Klagenfurt is currently under construction, Koralm tunnel is expected to go into operation in December 2025; March 2018 - Koralm tunnel, which is under construction, to be delayed due to budget cuts by Austria's new federal government; October 2016 - Project included in OBB's framework plan for years 2017-2022 and will receive EUR2.6bn (USD2.8bn) funding; Project includes construction of 127 km of double-track electrified line, 12 stations as well as 33 km-long tunnel; Project is part of 2400 km Baltic-Adriatic Rail Corridor; Project cost - EUR11bn |
