| 项目说明： | September 2021 - Port has reached a milestone with the construction of five piers as part of first phase of the project; April 2021 - Government of Iraq laid foundation stone for construction of the first phase of the port; December 2020 - Government of Iraq is due to sign a USD2.63bn construction contract with Daewoo Engineering & Construction for the first phase and will include the construction of five berths for unloading ships and a yard for the containers; August 2020 - Project delayed due to financial problems; March 2020 - Iraq planned to launch Phase II and III after parliament approve the 2020 budget; February 2020 - Construction underway on phase I which includes container terminal; September 2019 - GCPI awarded contract worth USD70.35mn to Daewoo Engineering & Construction to build 14.5 km entrance roads for the project by 2021 while Daewoo E&C is already working on the western breakwater; June 2018 - Eastern breakwater project was completed last year; Project is being implemented in 3 Phases; Phase I includes container terminal, phase II includes logistics infrastructure for port and maritime transport operations, stores, offices for transport operators, insurance firms and banks, and hotels and phase III includes a residential city that can accommodate up to a half a million people with integrated infrastructure such schools, healthcare and desalination and power plants |
