November 2021 - Project under planning stage; February 2021 - Construction is set to begin in 2023, first arrival, departure and storage tracks are expected to be completed in 2024, with additional tracks coming online in 2030, followed by project completion in 2032; July 2020 - Long Beach releases draft environmental study for the project; August 2019 - Port of Long Beach has selected HDR to perform the final design for the project; Project is scheduled to be completed in 3 phases, with the phase I expected to be complete by 2024 and key components of the project include realignment of the existing Pier B Street and Pico Avenue, closure of the Ninth Street grade crossing, expansion of the existing yard to 38 storage tracks, expansion of inbound-outbound staging tracks to accommodate up to five 10,000 foot trains, removal of the Shoemaker Bridge ramps and other streets between 9th Street and 12th Street, relocation of existing main-line tracks into the North Harbor area and widening of the Dominguez Channel Bridge to accommodate an additional track |
