Current concrete aggregate qualification testing for freezing and thawing durability takes at least six (6) months. Recent research has shown that this time period could be reduced by two months by changing concrete curing procedures used in KTMR-22 (Kansas test method). Additional work has shown that concrete pavement freeze-thaw durability could be improved though the use of supplementary cementitious materials. Testing on additional aggregates is needed before implementation of these research findings can be made.
