Critical Technologies for Grid Integration of Electric Vehicles--Moving Towards Sustainable Transportation and Smart Grid
项目名称: Critical Technologies for Grid Integration of Electric Vehicles--Moving Towards Sustainable Transportation and Smart Grid
摘要: Greenhouse gas emissions reduction and sustainable transportation are among the top national environmental concerns, and is of priority to many government policymakers, industries, and research organizations. There are over 730 million vehicles in the global vehicle market, and the number of vehicles is expected to continue to grow. The transition to electric vehicles (EV) could potentially help mitigate CO2 emissions, but presents new challenges in infrastructures, especially impacts to the electric power grid. The purpose of this project is to provide key solution methods enabling reliable and safe integration of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). This project will focus on four research aspects: (i) modeling and monitoring of the harmonics producing characteristics of PHV and BEV under normal and quick charging conditions; (ii) investigation of aggregation and propagation of the stochastic & distributed harmonics; (iii) stochastic modal analysis, location, and mitigation of harmonic resonance; (iv) smart charging and scheduling of EVs through wireless sensor network to shave peak load and avoid grid equipment aging.
