摘要：	Diesel powered lighting trailers create carbon, particulate, and other emissions. Recently, Caltrans was directed to use CNG powered sweeper units in the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD). It is expected that these diesel powered units may be targeted in the near future. The Hydrogen powered units produce none of the above emissions and are expected to help Caltrans reduce emissions in the SCAQMD and elsewhere in the state. Initial tests of the unit by the development team seem to demonstrate that these would be ideal for Caltrans to use and eventually to specify for use in Construction and Maintenance work zones. The newer lighting type on the units would also reduce glare for both workers and motorists. An evaluation of the prototype unit is needed to determine if this technology would be useful to pursue for Caltrans.
