| 摘要： | Contrast pavement markings are currently being used by several state departments of transportation (DOTs) and will likely be implemented by others in the future. There are several different contrast pavement marking designs currently utilized, but knowledge gaps exist regarding prac-tices for varied roadways, drivers, or autonomous vehicle technology. Furthermore, the safety benefits of contrast pavement marking designs have not been identified. However, benefits of contrast pavement markings may include crash reductions stemming from lane departures, reduced life-cycle costs related to durability, and identification of lanes based on strip location by autonomous vehicle technologies. The objective of this synthesis is to document the current practice of contrast pavement markings by state DOTs. |
