摘要: The object of this research is to develop modified design details of Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT's) Florida Slab Beam (FSB) Design Standard to utilize a Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) longitudinal joint between beams with an asphalt overlay. The modified details will be developed and tested using small and full-scale test specimens. Guidelines and specifications for the use of UHPC in beam joints shall be provided. The design modifications to the FSB will consider industry precasting practices and procedures, with emphasis on precast forming requirements for use with existing FSB Design Standards. Identification and collaboration with a precast producer is expected. In addition to modifications to the existing 12-inch and 15-inch-deep FSB Design Standards, the FSB Design Standard will be modified to achieve a 75-foot span length. Modifications may include a deeper precast cross section, voided sections, alternative prestressing strand patterns, and design as a continuous beam for live load. Collaboration with UHPC suppliers is expected. Detailing requirements will include modifications to the longitudinal joint for the efficient use of UHPC that balances material quantities and long-term durability. A transverse joint utilizing UHPC in a negative moment location will also be considered for the continuous design concept. The design will meet the requirements of the current editions of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Bridge Design Specifications, FDOT’s Structures Manual, and FDOT Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. This project is a follow-on project to Florida Slab Beam Bridge with Ultra-High Performance Concrete Joint Connections (BDV29 TWO 977-28).
