Impaired Driving Safety Program Strategies Pilot and Dashboard: Improving Prevention Outcomes Based on Subpopulation Risk Factors and Individualized Risk Assessment |
摘要: |
Impaired driving remains a critical safety issue for North Dakota as over 4 in 10 motor vehicle deaths involve an impaired driver. A pilot project with the 24/7 Sobriety Program, initiated in 2008, led to legislated participation for recidivist DUI drivers just two years later. While many individuals do not experience future DUI convictions, additional research is needed to better understand individuals that do later reoffend, and in some cases reoffend multiple times. DWI Court, 24/7 Sobriety Program and other driver improvement strategies have strengthen impaired driving prevention. This pilot project would allow stakeholders to further refine the DUI prevention program by incorporating individual's recidivism risk into evaluation and treatment options and decisions. |
