The main objective of this research is to create an automated and passive system to assess and update network passability in real-time using vehicle-locating data. Specifically, the system will take as inputs currently collected data including individual vehicle locations (from vehicles traveling over the network as part of inspection, response, and repair crews) over time based on Verizon vehicle-tracking data, iPhone vehicle-locating data, and Find My Plow data. It will also incorporate information that measures variables related to environmental conditions, including switch data from vehicles monitoring salt and brine spreading. The outcome from this research will be a methodology for the development of a software tool that is able to robustly and accurately integrate data from all of these sources to create a system capable of tracking and updating assessments of the network in real-time, particularly at the micro-level for individual road and bridge assets. |
