Improving Future of the Commonwealth's Curb
项目名称: Improving Future of the Commonwealth's Curb
摘要: Research is needed on a statewide level to determine the diverse and quickly-evolving demands to curbs in municipalities of all sizes across the Commonwealth (i.e. transportation network company (TNC), transit, micro-mobility, pedestrians, et al). The Boston Region Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is currently performing a Future of the Curb Planning Study. There are two main objectives: (1) To explore current demands on the curbside lane and identify strategies for repurposing and managing the curbside lane in municipalities across the Commonwealth. (2) To identify expected future demands on the curbside lane and consider how the curbside lane could be re-purposed and managed to accommodate these new demands. Such a product would demonstrate MassDOT as a national leader among state transportation agencies in the area of curb policies for communities of all sizes. Strategic curb policy could streamline highway and transit goals; complement the MassDOT Bike Plan and Pedestrian Plan; address concerns about micro-mobility service proliferation; support municipal ADA transition plan goals; and identify standards for TNC passenger pick-up/drop-off.
