摘要: The Vehicle Damage Factor for commercial vehicle plays an important role in the computation of the total design traffic, and thereby affects the ultimate pavement design and cost of highway construction. The current practice for VDF estimation was reviewed ana is considered as improvable. This paper presents an alternate methodology for VDF prediction using, Genetic Algorithm to analyse axle load survey data and provide a better model for VDF prediction. Axle Load survey data collected for 6 projects from different geographical locations in India was utilised for developing the alternate method. A computer program for Genetic Algorithm was developed and applied to various axle classes of commercial vehicles for prediction of VDF values for these vehicles with different types of commodities carried by them. Results of the model were thoroughly analysed, by repeated application, varying parameters, and using standard and non-standard distributions. The repeatability of the model and its variation from the earlier used VDF values for the projects was also studied. Application of Genetic Algorithms for prediction of Vehicle Damage Factors was proven to be a more reliable and accurate methodology and can be reaaily applied in future highway design & construction projects.
