| 摘要： | The International Transit Studies Program is designed to assist in the professional development of transit managers, public officials, planners, and others charged with public transportation responsibilities in the United States. The program accomplishes this objective by providing opportunities for participants to learn from foreign experience while expanding their network of domestic and international contacts for addressing public transport problems and issues. The program arranges for teams of public transportation professionals to visit exemplary transit operations in other countries. This digest is an overview of the mission that investigated emerging trends in European public transport. It is based on individual reports provided by the team members and it reflects the views of the team members. The study team members met with public agency and private company staff in Gothenburg and Jonkoping, Sweden; Zurich, Zug, and Lucerne, Switzerland; and London, Birmingham, and Hampshire County, England. The digest is organized in the following sections: International Transit Studies Program; Emerging Trends in European Public Transport: Mission 15, October 12-27, 2001; Transit Systems Studied--Overview; Public Policies Supporting Public Transportation; Automobile Control Policies; Public-Private Partnerships; Intermodal Transport and Transfers; Services for People with Disabilities; Communicating with the Passenger; Safety and Security; Quality Assurance and Control; Bus and Rail Maintenance; Low-Emission Vehicle Technologies; and Fare Collection. Appendices contain (A) study mission team members, (B) study mission host agencies/companies, and (C) acronyms and abbreviations. |
