摘要: The objective of this report is to provide information for the intelligent vehicle/highway system (IVHS) program by detailing the expected RF environment. This was accomplished by a review of the literature and use of internal ITS knowledge. It is anticipated that some IVHS systems will involve communications between vehicles and the roadside. This will probably be implemented using short radio communication links of a few hundred meters in length or less. Collision avoidance radars will work over similar short distances. Sufficient knowledge of radio wave propagation on short paths in the roadway environment are limited. The purpose of this report is to identify potential sources of electromagnetic interference (EMI). While there are many natural and man made sources of interference, a worst case scenario has been emphasized in this report. The three most significant EMI sources are unintentional radiated noise, radar emissions and broadcast emissions. Each is discussed in the report.
