摘要：	The report describes a computer-based approach to providing information to transit passengers to support their decision making on how to use available services. This system, dubbed ITMS by its creators, requires four main elements: information collection, a central processor or computer, software for decision aid algorithms, and a communication and information dissemination medium. Approaches which were prototyped include an itinerary builder residing in a hand held computer, an e-mail based wide area transit information system, and an application linked with a Geographic Information System application. Implementation of an actual ITMS will require major changes both in the organizational structure of transit systems, as well as the basic philosophy of providing transit service and how its performance needs to be measured.
