| 摘要： | According to a Federal Highway Administration survey, roadway surface quality is the most important factor in public satisfaction with the highway system. As a result, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOR) in Phoenix, Arizona has created a program to increase incentives for contractors to pave smoother roadways. The MCDOT rewards contractors with up to an additional ten percent of total project paving costs if roadways meet high standards in smoothness. The Roadway Management Section of the MCDOT measures the pavement on an International Roughness Index (IRI) and determines the smoothness of the road. |
