摘要: |
This article describes the efforts of the U.S. Coast Guard's Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) for the San Francisco Bay region. VTS San Francisco comprises 7 port authorities and 150 miles of navigable waterways. The combined commerce of the region makes it the 4th largest commercial shipping hub in the U.S. The primary mission of VTS San Francisco is to coordinate the safe and efficient transit of vessels in San Francisco Bay. To execute its mission, VTS San Francisco acts as "a member of the bridge team," versus a strictly regulatory entity. The focus of this article is on the aggressive partnership program with other Bay area governmental and public interest entities to help assure vessel traffic safety, cooperation with local industry, and maintain environmental balance. |
