摘要: One of ACC’s seven strategic injury prevention goals is to substantially reduce serious injuries associated with road crashes. To work towards this goal, ACC is supporting a Police enhanced drink driving programme based around ACC financing of purpose built and fully equipped compulsory breath testing vehicles for deployment in the Northern Police Region and the Canterbury Police District. The vehicles will be operated to best practice compulsory breath testing procedures during the high alcohol crash hours of the week. The programme will be supported by localised road safety advertising. An operational evaluation after 6 months will show ACC whether Police are meeting contract specifications and operations are being conducted according to best practice. A full evaluation report will use breath alcohol surveys to help determine the overall safety effect of the programmes. National attitudinal surveys and 12 months of Land Transport Safety Authority crash data will also be examined. ACC entitlement claims data will be analysed to help determine the programme’s benefits to ACC’s premium payers.
