摘要: About 1/3 the fishing wharves in Japan are built on soft ground and are thus adversely affected by the bearing capacity and deformation of the ground. Therefore, when gravity-type structures for fishing port are built on soft ground, much money is needed for ground improvements, reducing their economic feasibility. While non-gravity type sheet pile mooring wharves that are built on such soft ground are more economical, they are more susceptible to unexpected displacement due to lateral deformation of the ground. To prevent or suppress such lateral displacement of the sheet pile type mooring wharves, various measures have been considered, including 1) replacing the soft soil in front of the sheet piles with sand, gravel, etc., 2) increasing the lateral distance between the anchor and sheet piles, and 3) increasing the number of levels of tie rods. This paper presents the results of numerical simulations that were conducted to examine the effects of these measures. These analyses yielded the following results: 1. The rubble mound in front of the sheet pile helped to increase lateral support effect of the sheet pile. 2. Increasing the horizontal distance between the anchor piles and sheet pile helped to decrease the horizontal displacement of the sheet pile and increase the ultimate load on the ground surface behind the sheet pile. 3. The relation between load and horizontal displacement at the top of a sheet pile was nearly constant, regardless of the number of levels of tie rods. However, increasing the number of levels of tie rods helped to increase the ultimate load on the ground surface behind the sheet pile, which means increasing the lateral support effect of the sheet pile.
