摘要: |
The Adaptive Urban Signal Control and Integration (AUSCI) Project is a public/private partnership involving American state and local agencies, local industry, and British and Canadian companies. The partnership concept is not unique to this project. However, there are some positive experiences and lessons learned that are worth sharing with others. Overall, the project enjoyed excellent cooperation among the members; all technical challenges were solved with regard to the team objective of project success. Institutional barriers were non-existent. The project achieved many technical first-of-a-kind milestones. There were a few challenges involving intellectual property law and the multi-national nature of the project. Currently, the project is successfully operating video-detection-based Split Cycle Offset Optimization Technique (SCOOT) Adaptive Control in a portion of the central business district of Minneapolis. This paper presents the successes and the challenges of the partnership. (A*) For the covering abstract see ITRD E110327. |
