摘要：	This paper presents the findings of the revealed preference study of automated vehicle and highway systems (AVHS). A survey was conducted among those who participated in a four day demonstration of automated vehicle and highway technologies in San Diego, California, August 7 - 10, 1997. The study found that an overwhelming majority of the riders were impressed with the technologies and were interested in using them when they become commercially available. Age or gender made little difference in their willingness to use the technologies. Most riders perceived them beneficial to driving. Among the major benefits identified were stress reduction, making driving easier, and reduction in travel time. The riders responded positively to the performance of the demo vehicles with respect to their ability to smoothly accelerate or decelerate and to operate at the right speed. A few demo riders expressed concerns about human inability to control automated vehicles in emergency situations and to control hardware when it breaks down. Most participants stated that such technologies would be suitable for long trips on urban or rural highways, and when visibility is impaired at night or in fog.
