摘要: The objective of this paper is to determine the relationship between productivity levels and APTS usage, and productivity changes and APTS usage, for the years 1984 and 1995. The measurement of rail transit productivity was enabled by the use of a new performance evaluation tool, Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). DEA provides summary measures of productivity, without requiring knowledge of the production functions of individual agencies. Productivity is defined by the authors as output per resource unit and is used synonymously with efficiency. The results of the productivity evaluation and description of the DEA methodology are taken from an unPUB Published by: lished paper entitled "Productivity Study of American Rail Transit Systems Using Data Envelopment Analysis" which was presented by the authors at the 77th Annual Meeting of the Transportation Research Board. The APTS usage, determined by constructing the usage index, was calculated for each agency. Cross-tabulations were then performed to confirm the relationship between productivity and APTS implementation.
