摘要: RECENTLY, DIFFERENT STIFFENING DIAPHRAGMS HAVE BEEN USED AT LARGE INTERVALS IN HIGH HOLLOW PIERS SO AS NOT TO HINDER THE PROGRESS OF CONSTRUCTION. REGARDING THE STABILITY OF THE PIERS IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THE MINIMUM WALL THICKNESS AND MAXIMUM DIAPHRAGM SPACING AT WHICH STABILITY CAN STILL BE GUARANTEED. THESE DIMENSIONS ARE MAINLY DETERMINED BY THE BUCKLING STABILITY OF THE WALLS OF THE PIERS. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL NO RELIABLE METHOD OF THEORETICALLY EVALUATING THE BUCKLING STABILITY OF THESE WALLS, SINCE SUITABLE METHODS FOR THE CALCULATION OF BUCKLING STABILITY, WHICH TAKE ACCOUNT OF THE REAL BEHAVIOUR OF THE CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL, ARE NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS THEREFORE THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS RESEARCH PROJECT TO WORK OUT A SIMPLER CALCULATION METHOD FOR BUCKLING TESTS ON REINFORCED CONCRETE WALLS BY MEANS OF THEORETICAL INVESTIGATIONS OF QUADRILATERALLY SUPPORTED WALLS SUBJECTED TO UNIAXIAL, ECCENTRIC FORCES. THE REPORT OF SEPT. 29, 1969 DEALS WITH THIS PROBLEM AS RELATED TO RECTANGULAR PANELS. THE CALCULATION METHOD DESCRIBED IS A POSSIBILITY OF FINDING A SOLUTION TO THE BUCKLING PROBLEM OF PANELS TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION VARIOUS BOUNDARY AND EDGE CONDITIONS. THE FINAL NUMERICAL EVALUATION AND TABULATION FOR PRACTICAL PURPOSES STILL REMAINS TO BE CARRIED OUT.
