BY MEANS OF A SERIES OF SKIDDING RESISTANCE MEASUREMENTS, AND EXAMINATION IS TO BE MADE OF THE RELATION BETWEEN THE SLIPPERINESS OF VARIOUS SURFACINGS AND THEIR COMPOSITION, BINDER CONTENT, TYPE OF AGGREGATE, COMPACTION AND TIME LAID. IN THE RESEARCH STUDIES CARRIED OUT HITHERTO, MOSTLY ONLY ONE OF THE ABOVE FACTORS WAS RELATED TO THE MEASURED FRICTION VALUES. BY MEANS OF MULTIVARIABLE METHODS AN ATTEMPT IS TO BE MADE TO EXPLAIN THE SKIDDING RESISTANCE AND THE VARIABLES ASSOCIATED WITH IT. THE MEASUREMENTS MADE ARE TO BE EVALUATED BY COMPUTER IN ACCORDANCE WITH VARIOUS STATISTICAL METHODS, SO THAT THE OPTIMUM DESIGN FOR ROAD SURFACINGS CAN BE WORKED OUT WITH RESPECT TO THEIR SKIDDING RESISTANCE. |
