摘要: IN ORDER TO CLARIFY THE DEPENDENCE OF STEEL CORROSION IN CONCRETE ON ITS ALKALINITY AND ON THE CHLORIDE AND SULPHIDE CONTENT OF THE CEMENT, THE POTENTIOSTATIC CURRENT STRESS CURVES OF STEEL WERE MEASURED IN CALCIUM HYDROXIDE SOLUTIONS, CEMENT SUSPENSIONS AND CONCRETE. IF THERE IS A CHLORIDE CONTENT OF CEMENT OF 0.5 PERCENT OF THE WEIGHT IN A HARDENED CONCRETE, THEN ACCORDING TO THE TESTS NO CHLORIDE CORROSION IS EXPECTED, SINCE THE CONCENTRATION OF THE CHLORIDE IN THE LIQUID PHASE OF THE CONCRETE IS FAR BELOW THE MAXIMUM HARMLESS CHLORIDE CONCENTRATION DETERMINED IN CALCIUM HYDROXIDE SOLUTIONS. THE INVESTIGATIONS HAVE PROVIDED INFORMATION AS TO THE PERCENTAGE ADMIXTURE AT WHICH THE DANGER OF POSSIBLE CORROSION HAS TO BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT FOR STEEL INSERTS. THE REPORT HAS BEEN FORWARDED TO THE GERMAN ASSOCIATION FOR REINFORCED CONCRETE FOR EVALUATION.
