摘要: A busy scene from the Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) running day in Winchester in May 2019. Featuring most prominently are lowheight Roe-bodied Leyland Atlantean PDRl/2s HOR S90E and HOR 592E, the survivors of a quartet new to King Alfred Motor Services in April 1967. Hants & Dorset acquired the 53-year-old King Alfred company in 1973 and later transferred the four Atlanteans within the National Bus Company to the Bristol Omnibus Company, which converted three of them to open-top for use at Weston-super-Mare. Both of these were open-toppers when FoKAB acquired them, but 592 is back in original condition with the roof and other parts from HOR 591E, which was in poor condition and was scrapped. Waiting while 592 pulls out is OU 9286, an 18-seat Short-bodied Dennis 30cwt new to King Alfred in 1931, while the single-decker between the two Atlanteans is JAA 708, a Weymann-bodied Leyland Olympic new in 1950. FoKAB hopes to hold its 37th major running day in Winchester on 3 May.
