Devon County Council is using new government funding allocated last year - put on hold during the pandemic - for improvements to bus routes. Haytor Hoppa route 271 (Newton Abbot-Widecombe in the Moor) is part funded by Dartmoor National Park and last ran Saturdays only in 2019 when Country Bus used a minibus. From May 29, Stagecoach uses larger single-decks providing increased hourly services every Saturday until October 30 and weekdays from July 26 to September 3. They run as existing route 39 short workings from Newton Abbot to Bovey Tracey, extending beyond as route 271. The Hound Tor and Manaton deviation is withdrawn. From May 30, Taw & Torridge gained route 300 (Ilfracombe-Combe Martin-Lynmouth) - last run by Filers in 2017 - operating four journeys on Sundays and bank holidays until October 31 and two on weekdays from July 26 to September 3. With First's new Lynmouth-Minehead Exmoor Coaster (Buses May) it reinstates buses along the entire Exmoor coast. |
