摘要: Trafigura subsidiary Puma Bitumen opened a new bitumen terminal in March this year in Chennai, south-east India. Capable of producing up to 40,000tonnes/year, the terminal will supply bitumen to Hyderbad City Corporation, Chennai City Corporation and the Tamil Nadu Public Works department. Rakesh Reddy, commercial operations manager at Puma Energy said: "India is a promising and exciting market for Puma Bitumen to operate and grow in as it has the world's second largest road network and a booming demand for high-quality bitumen. This new terminal and increased supply of bitumen into India will be an integral piece in our growth strategy for the region over the coming years." Puma Energy operates 28 asphalt terminals around the world together with the largest fleet of specialised asphalt vessels. The Chennai facility is Puma's second terminal in India, following on from the 9,000tonne capacity terminal which it opened in Kakinada, further up the Eastern coast, in 2018. India has ambitious road building plans. A report by Allied Market Research published in February 2020 suggested that the country's bitumen market would grow from US$197 billion in 2018 to a projected $257 billion in 2029, with the use of polymer modified bitumen (PMB) growing fast. However, many construction projects were put on hold last year due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
